Assaults
Students are prohibited from assaulting anyone on school property or at any school-related event.
An assault is defined as:
- Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly causing bodily injury to another person.
- Intentionally or knowingly threatening another with imminent bodily injury.
- Intentionally or knowingly causing physical contact with another when the student knows or should reasonably believe that the other will regard the contact as offensive or provocative.
Child Protection
- Adequate leadership will be maintained at all times. The classroom setting demands that a single adult supervises a number of students, but outings and special events may require additional leadership.
- No one-on-one situations will be allowed. It is inevitable that a teacher will need to work with a student individually, but this is never to be done in seclusion. No adult will ever take a student into a closed room alone, transport a single student in a vehicle, or be in a situation in which the teacher is alone with a student out of view of other people.
- Privacy will be respected. Adults will respect the privacy of students and intrude only to the extent that health and safety require. Adults will protect their own privacy as well. Adults and students shall not use the restroom facilities at the same time.
- Reasonable suspicion of child abuse/molestation by any person will be reported (within 48 hours) directly to the Child Protective Services section of the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (1-800-252-5400), as required by law (Texas Family Code Chapter 261). As soon as possible a report will also be made to the principal, which will be forwarded to the school board. All situations should be handled with due respect for privacy and confidentiality, but appropriate action taken to ensure the safety of the student. Except in cases of imminent danger to the student, investigation by the person made aware should be limited to a recording and reporting of the basis for the suspicion or knowledge.
Emergency Vehicles
Fire and emergency codes of the state and of the city of Fort Worth mandate that cars NOT be parked and left unattended in areas which adjoin the main building, to provide maximum space for emergency vehicles.
Postponement or Cancellation of School
TV channel 4 or channel 5 make all official announcements concerning the postponement or cancellation of school for Eagle Mountain ISD. If you see Eagle Mountain ISD not having school, then we will not have school unless otherwise announced by the principal.
Tornado & Fire Drills
Students will participate in unscheduled fire and tornado drills during the year.
