High Honor Roll & Honor Roll"Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me...'" Jeremiah 9: 23-24 Honor Roll is used not only to recognize academic achievement but Christian character development. Students are evaluated in five areas of achievement and given an overall grade. Please see Student Achievement Grades above for more information. Two levels of achievement will be recognized each grading period:
Eligibility for Extracurricular ActivityIn order to be eligible to participate in an extracurricular activity for an eight week quarter (after the first eight week quarter of a school year), a student must not have a recorded grade average lower than 75 on a scale of 0 to 100 in any course for that preceding eight week quarter. A student whose recorded eight weeks grade average in any course is lower than 75 at the end of a eight week quarter shall be suspended from participation in any extracurricular activity event. At the end of any four week period in which a student has attained a course grade average of 74 or below, they shall be suspended from all extracurricular activities. At the end of any four week period in which a student has attained a course grade average for that eight weeks of 75 or more in each course taken, any suspension from participation in extracurricular activities shall be removed. Grades"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;" Colossians 3:23 Report cards are issued every eight weeks, reflecting the student's progress within that last quarter. The student is responsible for the delivery of the report card to his parents. Should a card be lost, a $5.00 fee will be assessed for a duplicate. The official school calendar will indicate the days when report cards will be sent home. The grading system at Trinity Baptist Temple Academy is as follows: A = 90 - 100 Grades are not the only indicators of what a student knows or can do. However, every student is encouraged to do his/her best; the grades will take care of themselves. Homework"Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life." Proverbs 4:13 From time to time, teachers in kindergarten and first grade will ask parents to work with their children on specific projects at home. Parents are urged to honor these requests in order that their child might continue to progress with the class. Students in grades 2 - 12 should make every effort to keep up with their daily assignments. This will assist students in doing their best work, preventing last-minute stressful situations. Students in grades 1 - 12 will be required to keep a homework tablet, which will necessitate a parent's signature. Parental cooperation with homework is requested. Students learn lessons about honesty from what their parents sign. Students may also have homework on the weekends. Incomplete on Report CardsIncomplete, or an "I", must be removed as soon as possible. It is the responsibility of both the parent and the student to see that the incomplete work is finished and a satisfactory grade is obtained. Progress ReportsParents receive a progress report at the end of the first four weeks of school for all students, identifying the status of the student's achievement at the beginning of the year. After that time, progress reports will be sent home at four-week intervals in order to keep parents informed. These reports are to be signed and returned within 48 hours. Academic ProbationR.E.A.C.H. is one of the means by which the school can help a student improve academically. If a student is struggling to reach a minimum of a "C" average at the end of each four-week period, the student will be assigned R.E.A.C.H. for the next four weeks or by the discretion of the teacher. Student is required to attend R.E.A.C.H. M/T/Th from 3:10 - 4:00 in the designated area. For the R.E.A.C.H. to be lifted the student must obtain a minimum of a "C" average on the next report. R.E.A.C.H. is designed to help students individually to help reach their objectives with one on one teacher assistance. A student does not have to be assigned R.E.A.C.H. to attend. Note: R.E.A.C.H. can be assigned at any time.
Testing"...Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." I Corinthians 10:31 Stanford Achievement Test: Trinity Baptist Temple Academy will administer the Stanford Achievement Test each spring. Results are normed in comparison to Christian schools throughout the nation. These tests are mandatory for all Trinity Baptist Temple Academy students, grades K - 12. It is very important that a student be present during this week of testing. (No family days are permitted during this test period.) No make-up tests will be given to students who miss part or all of the tests. |
